Residents of Kerongorori in Kisii County were left in a rude shock after a man was murdered by his close friend over a woman's love.
Locals said the deceased, Isaac Onsombi was hit by his friend Charles Montandege on Saturday evening
"Isaac was returning home in the company of Montandege after a drinking spree at a local bar at 5 pm. A heated argument ensued between them over a woman. Montandage picked a stone and hit him on the forehead killing him instantly," said Victor Masese.
Masese said the suspect escaped into a nearby bush after the incident.
"Locals tried to chase after the suspect but in vain," he said.
Area chief Benjamin Mogeni confirmed the incident.
The chief said he alerted police officers from Kenyenya who arrived and took the body to Kisii teaching and referral hospital morgue.
He said the woman's identity is yet to be revealed.
