On Saturday, Governor James Ongwae took to his social media Facebook account to welcome President Uhuru Kenyatta.

"Welcome Kisii Mr. President Uhuru Kenyatta. 20th February 2019," wrote Ongwae on his Facebook account accompanied by the video.

The commissioning of the new facilities comes after the county government recalled nurses who have been on leave after nurses boycotted job protesting Ongwae's administration failure to pay them allowances.

The county secretary Patrick Lumumba threatened that striking nurses will be sacked.

Kisii County is perceived to be an opposition stronghold since residents have been overwhelmingly supporting the former Prime Minister.
