Former Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo now wants the debate revolving around Deputy President William Ruto's alleged assassination plot to be taken seriously.
This comes a day after four Cabinet Secretaries from Mt Kenya region were summoned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) over their alleged involvement in the matter.
Speaking on Tuesday, the former National Assembly Minority Whip discouraged politicians from trivializing the matter, considering that the debate revolves around someone's life.
"When an alarm is raised that William Ruto’s life is in danger we should take it seriously, we cannot trivialise anybody’s life," he said on NTV'S Am Live show on Tuesday morning.
His remarks were echoed by Kisumu Woman Representative Rozah Buyu in a separate interview on Citizen TV's Day Break show.
Buyu said that the issue should be given the seriousness it deserves, citing past instances where people raised such alarms and ended up losing their lives.
She said that the fact that the DP is involved, makes it more serious.
"Any threat to anybody’s life is serious and should be taken seriously. We have had situations in the past where people have cried wolf, no action was taken and ended up losing their lives. The fact that this the DP then it makes it more serious," she said.
CSs Peter Munya (Trade), Joe Mucheru (ICT), James Macharia (Transport), and Sicily Kariuki (Health), and a host of Principal Secretaries and parastatal heads from the Mt Kenya region have been implicated in the allegations.
Both leaders are allies of the former Prime Minister who doubles up as Ruto's main political rival, with their remarks coming only hours after a section of other leaders rubbished Ruto's fears.
Led by Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu and Kiambu Woman Representative Gathoni Wamuchomba, they on Monday suspected that Ruto could be playing politics.
