Sonko has never been afraid of flaunting his wealth status.

The flamboyant governor often says that he made his first million when he was a student in secondary school.

There have however been speculations on Sonko’s source of wealth.

Some people have allegedly linked him to the drug business. The governor however says that his money is clean and he can account to it.

In the run to the 2017 general election, Governor Sonko revealed that he is a businessman and has diversified his business in all the economic sectors.

Here are some of the top property and businesses that governor Sonko operates and owns.

1. Matatu business

Governor Sonko has interests in the matatu business sector.The Nairobi governor allegedly owns over 5000 Matatus operating within the city.

Sonko is said to have ventured into matatu business when he was he was chairman of the Eastlands Matatu Association in 2007.

2. Club Casurina

Sonko allegedly owns club Casurina in Bubururu estate and others within the city.

3. Cyber cafes

The governor is also said to own top cybercafes in the city center, Buruburu, Makadara and other estates.

4. Boutiques

Sonko also allegedly owns top boutiques and cloth lines in town. 

5. Real estate 

Sonko is said to have big stake in the real estate with residential and business houses in the city and outside Nairobi.

The governor also owns parcels of land in Nairobi and other parts of the country.

6. Sonko Rescue Team

The governor runs and funds the Sonko rescue team. The team allegedly owns top of range cars, ambulances and other top property that the governor uses to help the needy.

7. Multi-billion palatial home

Sonko owns the multi-billion state of the art residential home in Mua Hills, Machakos County.

The governor says that he got his property through genuine means and his integrity cannot be questioned.
