Mwau said she is the best candidate to take over the wheel of leadership in the county after the incumbent Kivutha Kibwana is done with his second term.

Mwau who spoke in Kaiti Sub-county on Saturday said her two-terms experience as a deputy governor has given her the motivation to pursue the county's top seat.

"By the time I'm done with the second term as a deputy governor, I will be ready and capable of serving as a governor. I'm sure I can make the best one, I won't retire. I'm still young," Mwau said.

She said her ability to work with Kibwana without hiccups is a clear indication that she can lead.

Mwau said her leadership as Makueni governor will be a chance to increase the number of women in leadership.

She urged women to dodge their fears and seek leadership positions.

"Elected women are very few, women should not fear to vie for leadership seats," she said.

Mwau said if elected as the county's governor in 2022 polls, she will ensure that devolution is a success in Makueni.

"Devolution must succeed and what better way than entrusting the county leadership to trustworthy leaders who will utilize your tax?" she said.
