Although Kisii town is surrounded by many crimes due to its high growth rate, a woman who was caught and arrested for stealing babies has surprised many.
This came shortly after a four-year-old baby got lost at Nyambera area on Tuesday and was caught after a thief had wanted to sell the baby at Ksh. 15,000.
The woman whose name was unidentified was allegedly said to be doing the business of selling babies once she steals them from their parents.
He mother of the four-year-old baby who was identified as Lucy Kerubo heard that there was someone selling a baby and rushed to Nyakoe to confirm the baby. As she reached there, she found the woman had already been identified and arrested.
"My baby had gone missing for almost three days. Someone told me of a baby being sold at Nyakoe. As I arrived there the baby cried and identified me as the mother." Kerubo said.
However, Kerubo faulted the police of Nyakoe police station of releasing the woman from the cell on Thursday at 2.00 AM. She wondered why such kind of people who are a threat are being released. She, therefore, asked the government to intervene and rearrest the woman.
"It is said that this is the business the woman does. She steals the babies and later sells them. My worry is, why should the police arrest and release her at 2.00AM? She can as well come back to steal from another person. Am requesting the government to intervene, track and rearrest her." Kerubo added.
