Handing down his ruling, Rongo Resident Magistrate Raymond Langat slapped the convict with 8 years for the abduction, and 20 more years for rape for having contravened section 10, number 3 of the Sexual Offences Act of 2006 as reported by Citizen Digital.

The court also convicted him of having demanded money as ransom from the family of the 34-year-old victim after the abduction.

Calvince Hilter Owiro, the perpetrator,  is said to have carried out this despicable act in Awendo Sub County last year.

He was later arrested on May 30, 2018, and has been in remand awaiting court sittings to serve a verdict.

The court went ahead to take a closer look at his criminal records which revealed that Owiro had been linked to such criminal activities in the past.

He had been previously arrested in Awendo after involvement in another abduction incident some years back.

The court gave him 14 days to appeal the ruling in line with the law.

Should he not file his appeal, then he will proceed to serve his jail term in prison.
