Deputy Chief Justice (DCJ) Philomena Mwilu has selected a team of 32 lawyers to defend her against charges of abuse of office and graft.
Mwilu was arrested on Tuesday, August 28, taken to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters for questioning before being arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts.
Mwili today (Wednesday) unveiled 32 lawyers who will be part of her defence team.
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka who has also joined the team said Mwilu's post is very critical in Kenya’s judicial system, adding that the case against her is an attack on the Judiciary.
Some top lawyers in her team include; Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Senior Counsel John Khaminwa, Siaya Senator James Orengo, Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior, Nyamira Senator Okong’o Omogeni, Homa Bay MP Peter Kaluma, Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo, Mathare MP Anthony Oluoch, Lawyer Julie Soweto, Lawyer Harun Ndubi, Lawyer Nelson Havi among others.
