Deputy President William Ruto is undoubtedly North Rift kingpin currently enjoying unwavering loyalty from residents.
However, for the past few months, he has been experiencing opposition from two vocal legislators in his backyard.
Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter and Cherenganyi's Joshua Kuttuny have been battling Ruto from almost all political fronts. The duo has been criticising the Deputy Present on two major fronts; maize and Arror, Kimwarer dam scandals.
On maize scandal, Keter and Kutuny have blamed Ruto for 'influencing' prices in a bid to manipulate farmers to embrace avocado farming, after which he would supply maize to the nation.
For the Arror and Kimwarer twin dam scandals, the duo alleges Ruto played a critical role in the alleged loss of billions.
Though none had already been prosecuted, Kutuny and Keter are on record claiming Ruto masterminded the mega loss of taxpayers money.
As is the case in North Rift politics, anyone opposing Ruto who is the supposed kingmaker will definitely have a tough time selling his ideologies in the region.
One such politician who suffered humiliation by opposing DP Ruto is the former governor of Bomet Isaac Ruto. By attacking the DP just months to the 2017 gubernatorial elections, Isaac was taught a lesson, not to serve for a second term.
In light of the above, the rebel Keter and Kutuny might regret opposing the DP in the next general elections unless they make peace with him ahead of time.
