Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has today met Harambee Stars team members ahead of the 32nd edition of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON), set to kick off in Cairo, Egypt on Friday.
Odinga met Harambee Stars players at their hotel in Egypt.
It is still not clear what Odinga told the team ahead of the continental tournament.
The Sebastian Migne-led team landed in Egypt on Tuesday night.
The players trained on Wednesday night ahead of their clash with Algeria on Sunday.
The team captained by Victor Wanyama worked on its dribbling, movements, ball work, and swift turning skills.
Addressing the media, Migne said he is optimistic that the team will perform well during the competition.
“I think we prepared well and these five days are enough for us to rest. We only experienced an accommodation crisis as there was no Wi-Fi and our boys need to be updated often, by watching sports channels,” Migne told journalists.
Harambee Stars will face Algeria on Sunday in their first match, after which they will later face Senegal and Tanzania
Players to watch during the competition include; Kashiwa Reysol’s Michael Olunga, Tottenham’s Victor Wanyama, among other notable names.
