With the post handshake effects being felt across political divides, DP Ruto’s camp has frequently expressed dissatisfaction over Raila’s involvement in government affairs.
Recently, nominated MP Maina Kamanda who is one of president Uhuru Kenyatta’s confidants hinted out at a possible ODM-Jubilee merger ahead of the 2022 polls.
This is a sentiment that has been echoed by a number of political allies of president Uhuru and opposition chief Raila Odinga. It is evident that the ODM leader is working closely with president Uhuru.
This is something that sends jitters to the DP Ruto’s camp.DP Ruto’s confidants cannot allow Raila to form a union with the Jubilee Party because they feel that he is a betrayer.
A number of the DP’s point men have criticized Raila for what they term capitalizing on the handshake to bring down the unity in the Jubilee Party.
Putting into contest that there is a possibility of ODM uniting with Jubilee, DP Ruto’s camp can never be comfortable with such a union.
That is so because it will be like pouring cold water on the DP’s ambitions of inheriting president Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
They have openly described Raila as a selfish leader keen on bringing pandemonium in government.
They feel that such a merger will be used by Raila’s team to block the DP from becoming Kenya’s fifth head of state.
Besides, one doesn’t need a microscope to spot the ongoing Ruto-Raila cold war .
Hence, the DP’s camp will be in a total jolt if their political nemesis, Raila Odinga join hands with president Uhuru Kenyatta.
Political pundits have described such a merger as a political genocide to the DP’s presidential ambitions.
So, it is time that will tell if that will be the case.
