A 40-year-old man is nursing serious heart injuries after his wife of 6 years fled home over 'internal' differences.
Isaiah Mayora who hails from Ekerenyo area in Nyamira County said his wife, Phillis, deserted him before she fled.
“I married my wife 6 years ago and we were blessed with 2 children. Throughout the years we have been married, she has been too expensive. I sold all my property and a piece of land for her maintenance,” he said.
He said last week, the woman forced him to sell their only motorbike for her to use the money to pay for her sick mother who was discharged from hospital on Friday.
He noted that on Friday he left home to watch a football match with his friends and when he returned home at 11pm, the wife and children could not be traced.
“I sold the motorbike Sh50,000 and gave her all the money. She disappeared with the money, utensils, beddings and cloths,” he noted.
Mayora said on Saturday he visited her parents’ home in Marani where he found her with the children but she told him to marry a different wife because he is too poor to marry a woman like her.
Area assistant chief Amos Onderi said the man was warned not to marry the woman but he could not hear his parents and villagers.
Onderi said he in talks with Marani chief to ensure the man gets his property back and the woman will not be allowed to come back to the village.
