Governor Mutua says the rumours being peddled on social media platforms are malicious.

Speaking on Musyi FM on Wednesday morning, the Machakos county boss said that Huduma Namba registration is voluntary.

“We are not planning to force or withhold salaries of county staff who fails to register on NIIMS as some people are peddling,” he said.

Mutua said that Huduma Namba is a choice as the High Court ruled on Monday.

The Machakos Governor, however, urged residents and Kenyans to register on the system in order to enjoy government services.

He observed that the Huduma Namba will be a game changer in terms of service delivery to Kenyans.

Governor Mutua vowed he will ensure that all the 1.2 million residents in Machakos are registered.

President Uhuru Kenyatta launched NIIMS in Machakos on Tuesday.

Uhuru said the system's database will contain information of all Kenyan citizens and foreign nationals residing in the country.

During the launch, leaders present among them Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu hailed the system.

Ngilu slammed politicians and individuals opposing the system, saying they are dragging the country backwards.
