A 40-year-old man died on spot after he was hit by a lorry in Keroka, Nyamira County on Monday evening.
Confirming the incident, area traffic police commander Abigael Menjo said the deceased Nyakundi Mandere was at the road side standing when he was hit by the lorry.
"The lorry loaded with luggage veered off the road after the driver lost control and hit the deceased. He died on spot," said Menjo.
The commander said the lorry also collided with another matatu injuring two other people.
"Two people who were in a matatu parked by the roadside were also injured when the lorry hit the matatu from behind," she noted.
She said the injuries were rushed to Gucha hospital for treatment while the body of the deceased was moved to the hospital morgue.
"Members of the public should be careful not to stand on the roadside more especially evening hours when lorries are ferrying luggage to various markets," she noted.
The commander assured that the driver of the lorry didn't flee from the scene.
"The driver has recorded a statement with police. Motorists should be careful to curb accidents," she stated.
