Speaking during the 6th Annual Devolution Conference on Thursday, the DP took issue with Raila's attacks on him since late last week, saying that Raila is bitter with him.

He added that the former Prime Minister is out to soil his name ahead of the 2022 general elections likely to see them battle it out for the presidential position.

Ruto added that far from what he has been saying, Raila's attacks have nothing to done with the fight against graft, but is only out to settle political scores.

He termed the former Prime Minister a rumour monger, propagandist and peddler of half truth with an aim of beating his rivals and the ruling Jubilee Party in advance.

"The biggest threat to the war on corruption is selective prosecutions targeting pre-determined individuals or projects; and secondly, rumour mongers, propagandists and peddlers of half truths, exaggerations and distortions.

This are meant for media headlines to execute covert political schemes, which in and of itself constitute obstruction of justice,” he is quoted by the Standard.

Speaking on the same platform Wednesday, Raila wondered why Ruto is so passionate about the Ksh21 billion Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal, implicating him in the saga.

Raila kicked out the battle last week after going all out on the DP who had days earlier came out to note that only Ksh7 billion had been laid to the contractor tendered to deliver the dams.

The two have been attacking and reacting to each other ever since, in what is threatening to further elevate political temperatures in the nation in the coming weeks.
