Several Students from Nyabururu National School have been secretly receiving treatment at Nyangena Hospital in Kisii since Thursday over suspected food Poisoning, it has emerged.
According to some of the students who are still admitted at the hospital, they could be suffering from food poisoning as a result of poor hygiene in their school.
"We are given bad food at the school. The Kitchen is dirty. They don't prepare food well. Many of us have been complaining and some are still at the school," one of the students said.
According to a number of them, school matron threatened them against leaking the information to the outsiders. Further, they said, the principal also descended on some of them over what she termed as 'pretense'.
"We were threatened by the matron against leaking the information to the outsiders. Some were beaten for reporting the matter to the principal. Some of our colleagues are admitted at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital," another student argued.
A worker in the school who spoke in confidence, said over 20 cases were reported. Further, he said, most of those affected have been discharged from various health centers.
