Popular local television series "Tahidi High" risks being banned from TV following a threat by Kilifi Woman Representative Gertrude Mbeyu to move a motion to Parliament to have the program scrapped.
The legislator argues that the television program series promotes immorality and unrest among students, and contains themes she does not support as a leader and parent.
“The program is really messing up our students who are watching this program; they imitate what ‘Tahidi High’ is showing in our TV and they will not go far as they learn what the program is showing,” argued Ms Mbeyu.
The woman representative said this during an Education Day event at Barani Secondary School in Malindi.
In attendance was the area Member of Parliament Aisha Jumwa and Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang.
Ms Mbeyu singled out last Tuesday's episode and challenged the Principal Secretary to watch it and ascertain whether the popular television series is unsuitable for the public.
Tahidi High is aired on Tuesdays on Citizen TV.
