Etale took issue with Ruto's remarks regarding the ongoing purge on corruption, during an exclusive interview on Citizen TV two weeks ago.

He recalled the DP saying that graft allegations should not be used to judge the credibility of politicians, remarks he (Etale) said should not be from any leader in Kenya.

"Sina ubaya na naibu was rais lakini hivi majuzi nilimwona akisema kwamba ufisadi hauwezi mzuia mtu kuongoza na sikufurahia (though I have nothing personal against him, I took issue with his remarks that corruption cannot affect one's leadership credentials)," he said.

Etale made the remarks during an interview on 'Mazungumzo Waziwazi' on Radio Jambo, Wednesday night.

The close ally of opposition leader Raila Odinga termed the remark an insult to the ongoing fight against corruption, demanding that Ruto must come out and publicly apologize to Kenyans.

"Maneno kama hayo hayafai kutoka katika mdomo was kiongozi kama huyu (such remarks should not be said by a leader of his calibre), he owes Kenyans an apology," he added.

Ruto who is personally warming up for the 2022 presidential race is among the leaders implicated in corruption scandals.
