The CS commissioned a renal/dialysis unit, a CT Scan machine and an operating theatre at the Lamu County Hospital under the Ministry of Health, Managed Equipment Services Project.

The CT scan services will facilitate imaging necessary for diagnosis of various conditions in the county, while the dialysis services are expected to ease the challenges in dialysis for renal patients who have been traveling to Mombasa County for dialysis.

During the tour, the CS met Cuban doctors specialists at the facility and emphasised on the need to support current curative services besides strengthening health prevention and promotion services in the county.

Flanked by Governor Fahim Twaha, Kariuki urged the Lamu County Health Management Team to scale up community health interventions to address WASH infections in the region and also promote uptake of skilled delivery services in the county.

She noted that the Ministry of Health will be delivering a vaccine preservation equipment, vehicle and motorbike to Lamu County in two weeks time to improve immunisation coverage in the County from the current 77 percent.

The CS also visited Lamu Girl's High School and encouraged the Form 4 candidates to work hard and be disciplined as they write the remaining KCSE papers.
