Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has vowed to fulfill all the development promises he made to his electorate before the end of his term in 2022.
The Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader said he is keen to leave a good development legacy after his second and final term in office ends.
Speaking during a meeting with Members of County Assembly (MCAs) at his office on Thursday, Mutua vowed to continue working with the county legislators and other leaders to initiate and spearhead development.
During the meeting, Mutua discussed development issues touching each ward in Machakos.
Mutua said the 2019/2020 budget will focus on developing roads, provision of water, healthcare, and agriculture in every ward.
He also discussed with the MCAs, led by County Assembly Speaker Florence Mwangangi the county’s unity.
The governor asked leaders to unite residents even as 2022 succession politics takes center stage.
“Days of acrimony and infighting are now an issue of the past. We are committed to work together and solve our issues internally. Our people are tired of infighting which has affected development,” Mutua tweeted.
The Governor during the meeting also thanked the MCAs for deliberating and passing the county’s supplementary budget.
He said the budget will now enable his government to fix roads, drill more boreholes, dams and provide bursaries among other development protects to the people.
The Machakos county boss said his government is on track in terms of service delivery.
Mutua is serving his final term in office and has declared an interest in the 2022 presidential election.
