The ongoing probe on alleged theft of Sh21 billion towards the construction of Kimwarer and Arror dams could take a little bit longer, DPP Noordin Haji says.
In a statement, the DPP notes that the nature of the case is complex because of the entire scheme by players behind the scam.
Through his deputy, Dorcas Oduor, Haji says the ODPP is keen to ensure all the parties involved are grilled to avoid a situation where shoddy evidence is brought before the court of law for prosecution.
The latest development means that Cabinet Secretaries who have been grilled before may not be kicked out yet by President Uhuru Kenyatta during his much-anticipated State of the Nation address in Parliament on Thursday.
"Investigations over the Kimwarer and Arror dams are at advanced stage. It's acknowledged that the nature is complex and therefore could take time. There is also ongoing probe in other jurisdictions thus the delay.
"We must also underscore the fact that both parties must be given humble time to present their side of story.
The ODPP is keen to bring a concrete case thus the delay," reads part of Haji's statement.
In his previous speeches, President Kenyatta has expressed his satisfaction with both the DPP Noordin Haji and DCI boss George Kinoti in their renewed efforts towards the war against corruption.
On the contrary, Deputy President William Ruto has specifically dismissed the two, accusing them of being used to fight his 2022 presidential bid.
Ruto insists that no money has been lost from the two projects.
Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa, Agriculture CS Mwangi Kiunjuri and Treasury CS Henry Rotich have all been grilled over the same scandal and it was expected that by Thursday, the DPP would have issued summons to have any of them arrested.
