High octane politics on controversial Mau Forest evictions, delayed construction of Bomet University and DP William Ruto's 2022 ambitions was among top agenda for Bomet MPs who walked out of President Uhuru Kenyatta's function on Monday.
Sensing fireworks and with strict instructions from State House mandarins, Governor Joyce Laboso stood her ground, leading to premature exit of MPs from the function.
"State House was unhappy with Kapsabet event where politics dominated the President's event the previous day. They had intelligence about Mau and delayed construction of the university.
"They had to work with Governor Laboso to strictly block the MPs to save the president from possible embarrassment and continuous politics," a source revealed.
The five lawmakers who walked out include Bomet Central MP Ronald Tonui, Bomet East MP Beatrice Kones, Konoin MP Brighton Yegon and Bomet Senator Christopher Langat and Joyce Korir.
After that, they staged parallel rally in Bomet town where they condemned organisers for snubbing them.
Mrs. Laboso defended her move on Tuesday, insisting that the president had a tight schedule thus the reason to snub local leaders.
"They had issues to do with Mau and delayed construction. The president was working on strict timeline and not everyone could speak.
"Some of these issues could be better addressed in a round table discussion. We couldn't allow Mau Forest debate yet Maasai leaders were not around," she said.
At Kapsabet on Sunday, a host of Rift Valley leaders piled pressure on Uhuru to formally declare his support for DP William Ruto.
