Nine-time African champions Telkom edged hosts Delta Queens 4-1 in their third match of the Africa Cup for Club Championships competition as their mission for the African title accumulated pace.
The competition entered its third day on Monday at the Abuja National Stadium, Nigeria, with Telkom defeating the hosts to proceed with their 100 percent record.
The Kenyan victors lead the standings with nine points after defeating Ghana Police 2-1 in their opening match, before pounding comrades United States International University-Africa (USIU-A) 4-0 on Sunday.
At the Abuja National Stadium, Tracy Karanja opened the scoring for Telkom, before Jacqueline Wangeci doubled the lead.
Barbara Simiyu scored the third, while the hosts got their relief through Esther Bollo in the 52nd minute.
Telkom head mentor Jos Openda said they are focusing on reaching the finals, but lamented over the harsh climatic conditions in Nigeria.
"We are focusing to get into the finals and from that point win convincingly on the grounds that we need to return with the title. The young ladies are pushing hard in spite of the way that the conditions here are not well disposed of because of the hot sun we are encountering here," Openda revealed.
After a rest on Tuesday, the games will continue on Wednesday with the home girls going up against Kada Queens at 11 am as USIU go up against Ghana Police at 6 pm
