Did you know that screaming is good for your health? That it can act as a cure for stress, release tension and give you peace of mind?
According to psychologists, screaming is a form of primal therapy which allows you to release pent-up tension and its good for your heart, mind and soul.
Kanye West is said to have tried it and John Lennon was a great fan of screaming. John Lennon was introduced to screaming therapy by a book he read authored by Dr. Arthur Janov, a Californian therapist. In the book, Janov who came up with the idea of primal therapy says screaming helps release the inner child who may long have been suppressed.
“Keeping feelings inside eventually will take its toll on one's health. Repression is a constant force that wears the system down, resulting in, possibly, a shorter lifespan,” writes Janov.
Screaming for us is a call for help. But screaming, though it may sound strange and probably make you look insane is a good therapy when the spirits are low.
An interview with some Nakuru residents shows that some people and especially women may have using the primal therapy though unconsciously.
“I sometimes feel like sitting in the middle of Afraha Stadium and screaming my heart out,” says a lady who would wish not to be named. Another one, Faith Wangui, says she does it all the time.
“Sometimes I think am a little crazy but I feel wonderful inside after a nice scream,” she says laughing aloud.
However, too much screaming can be harmful as if done too loudly and often, it can ruin your vocal chords.
