A self-proclaimed witch-doctor has gone into hiding after he allegedly obtained Sh20,000 from a customer at Gesure in Nyamira.
Peter Ndiege claimed that the witchdoctor, Martin Bironga, asked Sh20,000 for him to get medicine to cure his diabetic daughter.
“I visited the witchdoctor on Monday and he asked me to give him Sh20,000 so that I can get herbal medicine to cure my diabetic daughter.
"I gave him the money and he requested me to return on Tuesday to collect the medicine,” said Ndiege.
Ndiege said on Tuesday he returned to the witch-doctor but he couldn't find him. He tried to reach him on phone but in vain.
“Since Tuesday I have tried to reach him in vain. He is not at his home. I feel conned because I have not received the medicine he claimed he was to give me to heal my daughter,” he added.
He threatened to hack the witch-doctor to death if he finds him.
Area assistant chief Emmanuel Oyondi said residents should not be tricked by rogue herbal medicine doctors.
The local administrator urged residents to seek medical services at public health centers.
He added that the witch-doctor is being traced so that he can refund the money or give the medicine.
