Speaking during an interview on Inooro FM on Wednesday, Mutua said that borrowing is a good idea only if the funds will be used for the correct purposes.

He noted that past loans have not assisted Kenyans because of massive looting and reminded the president to stand up against graft before he completes his term in power.

“We must borrow to develop. But it is important that this money is used for its intended purpose. What we have a problem with, is almost half of all these loans being pocketed by selfish people who don't care about the ordinary Kenyans who have to pay these loans," Mutua said in a tweet.

He appealed to Uhuru to fight corruption from all fronts for the sake of development.

The governor, who also doubles up as Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader, further insisted that all officers in the government must account for their wealth.

Mutua who has declared his 2022 presidential bid has been on the forefront in urging government officials to account for each coin channelled to fund different projects.
