Police have impounded fake alcohol estimated to be worth Ksh.1.1 million in Juja town, Kiambu.
According to authorities, 2,000 empty bottles of different alcohol brands and 200 liters of suspected ethanol were also impounded.
The bottles had labels from Kenya Breweries, African Spirits, London Distillers among other brands.
Police managed to seize over 10,000 Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) stickers.
“The National Police Service and administration officers are working with the county government to get rid of counterfeit goods,” Kiambu Administration Police boss Josephat Kinyua said while confirming the incident.
The ministry of interior has intensified the war on contrabands. Recently alcohol was nabbed in Kisumu.
According to Central Regional Commissioner Wilson Njega dubious manufacturers are operating within residential areas to avoid authorities.
“However, the government will catch up with them and residents should report those involved,” he said.
A casual labourer identified as Margret Wairimu was arrested.
