Through a short notice at the hostel, also shared through SMS, the building will no longer host students following continued misbehavior.

Instead, it will be renovated and rented to tenants with families.

Addressing the lamenting students, Evans Okuda (landlord) noted that some comrades have been secretly vacating the premises without paying rent as required.

“Some of you break for your homes for two to three months while you don’t want to pay. You want your properties to be kept here for free. Which business is that? Some vacate secretly with their rent,” he said.

A section of the students, however, blamed the landlord for punishing all of them for the fault of a few students, adding that getting new residence would be tougher and expensive.

The incident comes only two months after the owner of Scholars Haven Hostel changed his building into a club leaving hundreds of student homeless.

He complained that students have become stubborn and no longer want to stay in a pair.
