Melida Auma, mother to slain Rongo University student Sharon Otieno has revealed the progress of her burial preparations.
Sharon was found murdered in a thicket in Homabay County early last month, after being reportedly abducted in the neighboring Migori county days prior.
Speaking Thursday, Auma noted that the burial plans are in progress.
She added that the family is set to hold a fundraiser on October 14, in a bid to raise the 1.3 million shillings needed for the event.
"The burial plans are underway and we will have a fundraiser on October 14 but my main worry is about the education of the children,” she was quoted.
She added that the family is yet to receive any help from any quarters, calling upon well-wishers to step in and offer a helping hand.
Several suspects have since been arrested and arraigned in relation to the murder, among them Migori Governor Okoth Obado who has since admitted to having been her lover.
He has also admitted to fathering Sharon's unborn baby who was also killed in the course of her murder.
Sharon is set to be buried on October 19 at her grandfather's home in Magare village, Homabay County.
