Kisumu Governor Peter Anyang' Nyong’o has higher chances of retaining his seat in 2022, due to what can be termed as his track record so far.
However, former Nairobi County gubernatorial candidate Miguna Miguna can surprise the professor, if he decides to contest for the top seat in Kisumu seat in 2022.
Born in Nyando, Miguna Miguna has every chance of being elected the third Kisumu governor if by he decides to vie for the top seat in 2022.
He is seen by many as incorruptible owing to his public stand against corruption. Who would not wish to be served by an incorruptible governor?
He is also a man of his word; straight talking and assertive. He says it as he sees it. Compared to Governor Nyong’o, his main undoing, however, is his constant attacks on ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Odinga is a very popular figure in Kisumu and Luo Nyanza in general, and any politician who dares attack or go against him always faces the wrath of locals.
Currently Governor Nyong’o does not have a formidable opponent ahead of the 2022 elections.
But the game plan would swiftly change for Governor Nyong’o, if Miguna Miguna enters the gubernatorial race.
On a good day, Miguna Miguna currently in Canada can surely give Nyong’o a run for his money.
