Olunga posted a picture of him in training, after being sidelined from mid this month due to an injury he picked as his side played against Albirex Niigata in a J-league 2 match.

“Back on the grind. God is good,” Michael Olunga captioned the picture.

The injury ruled out the former Gor Mahia striker out of Kenya's Group F 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier match against Black Stars of Ghana last weekend.

Harambee Stars lost the match by a solitary goal, but both teams qualified for the AFCON tournament to be held starting June in Egypt.

The tournament will for the first time feature 24 teams up from the usual 16.

Other teams in the tournament include; hosts Egypt, defending Champions Cameroon, Morocco, Nigeria, DRC, Algeria, Mali, Guinea, Tunisia, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Mauritania, Namibia, Benin, Madagascar, Tanzania, Uganda, South Africa, Guinea Bissau, Zimbabwe, Angola and Burundi.

Kenya is in pot four ahead of the draw to be released later, which means there’s a likelihood of Harambee Stars ending up in the same group with fellow East African sides Uganda and Burundi.

Olunga is expected to lead Harambee Stars’ hunt for goals during the tournament.
