A middle-aged man has murdered his girlfriend in Kangundo, Machakos County.
The bodaboda operator allegedly hacked the woman to death in Kitongi village on Thursday night.
The incident was confirmed by Kangundo police boss Benjamin Ong'ombe.
Ong'ombe said the suspect committed the crime at around 7.00pm.
He said the man stabbed the lady after they had a disagreement.
"They disagreed and he chased the lady to the farm where he stabbed her on the neck," Ong'ombe said.
Ong'ombe said neighbors who heard commotions rushed to the scene.
He said the woman passed on before she could be rushed to the hospital.
The body belonging to the culprit was later found dangling from a tree a few metres from the scene of the incident.
"After killing the woman, the man hanged himself on a tree just some metres away," Ong'ombe added.
Ong'ombe said the cause of their disagreement was not immediately established.
The woman is said to be married but still went on with the illicit affair with the bodaboda operator which later costed her life.
"The woman was married but was in a relationship with the deceased until this tragedy struck," a resident who sought anonymity for fear of victimization said.
The bodies were removed to Kangundo Level 4 Hospital's mortuary.
Police have launched investigations into the incident.
