Inooro FM breakfast presenter Jeff Kuria is set to launch a Kikuyu stand-up comedy TV show soon on a yet-to-be-identified station.
Kuria who started as a mere comedian from the Kenya National Theater before venturing into radio will by this move be virtually going back to where it all started, but this time around with a wealth of experience and a different mission.
Speaking to this writer on Friday evening, the presenter noted that the show will all be about mentoring upcoming comedians in the first growing Kikuyu comedy industry.
"I have joined hands with other like-minded upcoming comedians like Karwimbo Mukurinu and so far so good. All the preparation works have been very successful and we are now ready to hit the screen any time soon," Kuria says.
He adds: "The future looks bright and I can promise all the prospective fans that the TV show will have the best-refined comedians never witnessed before while the content will be humorously witty and breathtaking."
Jeff, as he is popularly known among listeners, can be credited for discovering and building raw talents from scratch especially Kikuyu artistes, both secular and gospel. Josee Gatutura of the 'Thie Ukiumaga' fame is the best example.
After the show hits the road, he says, the next big task will be to go to 'mashinani' to 'fetch' raw talents from the 'source'.
It now remains to be seen how the show will be received after hitting the screens or it will all amount to hot air.
