President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday arrived at Kisumu, where he was received by his deputy William Ruto, opposition chief Raila Odinga, and a host of other leaders.

Shortly after landing in the Lakeside City, the President and his entourage headed to Ahero where the Head of State commissioned the construction of the Ahero Interchange in Kisumu.

In a series of tweets from State House, the President's communication team divulged that the Head of State had affirmed his intention to ensure equitable development in all parts of the country.

"President @UKenyatta has officially Commissioned the construction of the Ahero Interchange in Kisumu. The President stated that his Administration will continue to partner with all leaders to implement development projects for the benefit of all Kenyans.

"President @UKenyatta also affirmed that the unity pact between him and @RailaOdinga is for the long haul, and with it, Kenya will achieve more positive milestones. The President said politics should not always be about competition but changing the lives of Kenyans," State House Kenya tweeted.

President Kenyatta is on a 2-day visit of the region and is expected to launch the pilot face of the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) later today.
