Political Analyst David Osiany now claims that Deputy President William Ruto’s recent tour of Luo Nyanza could have been in reaction to an earlier one by Baringo Senator Gideon Moi.
Speaking on Radio Maisha’s ‘Bunge la Maisha’ on Monday morning, Osiany claimed that Ruto moved with speed to liquefy Moi’s tour of parts of Homa Bay county in late October.
He noted that Ruto has been avoiding the Luo Nyanza region and has only been frequenting the Kuria speaking Kuria East and West constituencies but seems frightened, hence his trip to Homa Bay and the Luo side of Migori County on Sunday and Monday last week respectively.
‘’Kuenda kwake maeneo ya Luo Nyanza kwa ghafla huenda ni kutokana na ziara ya hivi majuzi ya Seneta Moi. Yeye (Ruto) huenda tu maeneno ya Kuria.
(He has not been visiting Luo Nyanza, opting for Kuria instead. His sudden change of heart appears to have been fuelled by Moi’s recent visit),’’ said Osiany who doubles up as a former Rongo parliamentary aspirant.
He added that though Ruto’s trips might not be fully embraced by area leaders and residents, most of whom are allied to opposition leader Raila Odinga, the DP is free to tour the region at will.
‘’Ziara za Ruto hazina shida yoyote maana zinafanywa chini ya mwavuli wa maendeleo na pia anamwakilisha Rais. Kwa hivyo ako na ruhusa ya kutembea maeneo hayo (he is free to tour any part of Nyanza at any time),’’ he added.
In his recent tour, Ruto promised to frequent the region going forward.
