A woman in Boruma village, Ibeno in Nyaribari Chache, Kisii County is fighting for her life at Keumbu hospital after she was clobbered by her nephew.
Area chief Henry Nyang'au said the victim Leah Bosibori trespassed into the suspect Simon Onyuri's farm prompting to the attack on Tuesday evening.
"Bosibori was returning home from Keumbu shopping center when she decided to cross at Onyuri's vegetable farm. Onyuri who spotted her ordered her to explain why she had to cross at the farm instead of using the designated road," said Nyang'au.
The chief said Bosibori tried to run away in vain.
"The suspect armed with a 'rungu' he beat the victim on her knees and joints on grounds that she was putting witchcraft items on his farm," he noted.
Mr. Nyang'au said the suspect left the woman for dead at his farm and escaped in fear of a beating from members of the public.
"Locals rushed Bosibori to the hospital where she is receiving treatment. It is not clear whether the victim is a witch as claimed by the suspect but, we are probing the allegations," he said.
He assured that the suspect who is at large is being traced
