Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho on Monday left President Uhuru Kenyatta in stitches when he requested for the region not to be forgotten after the discovery of oil in Turkana County.
In a video, which has since gone viral, Mombasa county boss said that the discovery of the mineral was to be of great benefit to the region, pleading for Mombasa to have a share.
“What I want us to do people have asked for legs, they have requested for ribs, intestines Kwale has already taken them, we only want the neck, “ he said, leaving Uhuru in stitches. (What I want us to do, watu wameomba hapa miguu, wameomba mbavu, maini ya Kwale yashachukuliwa.Sisi tutaka shingo tu).”
President Kenyatta said that he will ensure everyone benefits from the discovery of the oil. He said that he has great plans for the people of this nation following the new development.
“The government will ensure that the local communities benefit from the oil and that the fruits of the resource are also shared in an equitable and sustainable manner,” he said.
“I urge all those in charge to avoid any misuse of the resource that would deny others from its benefit,” he added.
The President also announced the creation of 50,000 jobs after he promised to put in place different measures following the discovery of the oil and unveiling of changes in the shipping sector.
