Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi now wants Deputy President William Ruto and his allies to stop talks about the 2022 general election.
Wamatangi said the early campaigns were polarising the country, making the Jubilee administration deviate from its Big Four agenda and the renewed fight on corruption.
Speaking during Power Breakfast Show on Citizen TV, the Senator said that Ruto will be backed by President Uhuru Kenyatta to take over power after retiring and asked the DP to support his boss in building a lasting legacy.
"We are aware that the Deputy President is a presidential candidate in 2022. We are preparing for that but between now and then, it is about the delivery of services we promised to the people," he said on Thursday.
The Senator exuded confidence that Ruto will win the presidency on grounds Jubilee has been accepted nationally due to the massive development programmes it has initiated since coming to power.
"There is this wrong notion that Jubilee is about Central Kenya and Rift Valley. It is not. Jubilee is a national party," he noted.
Wamatangi further dismissed claims that there were divisions in the governing party, noting that despite Jubilee leaders having a divergent stand on various issues, the party was still united and reading from the same script.
"There are no cracks in Jubilee, there may be differences in opinion but we rise above them and do what is right for the people," the second-time Senator stated.
