Controversial Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria now says his New Year remarks were interpreted to his disadvantage by his supposed political enemies.
At Thika on Monday evening, a visibly tipsy Kuria hit out at President Uhuru Kenyatta, terming his development ideology as 'stupid'.
"We must think critically. We are being used as voting machines yet development is being taken elsewhere. That stupidity must stop henceforth," he said.
The ceremony was attended by several Kiambu leaders among them Governor Ferdinand Waititu and Women Representative Gathoni wa Muchomba.
But in an exclusive interview with Citizen TV on Friday, Kuria said his friendship with Uhuru has lasted for many years and that he did not have any intention to offend him.
"I am sorry to the president and I didn't mean to offend him. They have shifted the narrative to make make look bad. However, Kiambu people know what I meant.
"They now misconstrue my remarks by dragging in the president yet they are not doing their jobs. We can't allow them to mislead us," he said.
According to Kuria, he was angered that Kiambu leaders were concentrating on rehabilitation nof alcoholics yet in other regions, the president was busy launching mega projects.
In October last year, local media reported that President Uhuru Kenyatta confronted Kuria at Mt Kenya leaders meeting in Nyeri over his persistent politicking habit.
