The new generation narrative 'fake it till you make it' seems to be enjoying a good reception by many youths across the nation, with Nakuru youth seemingly leading the pack.
It is for the same reason that many young people in the lakeside town, mostly the male, are are now living a forced life, simply to impress their mates and women.
Here are the places where you will always come across the fakers.
1. Shabaab
Shabaab has over time made a name for itself as the haven for ballers and Nakuru's cool kids.
A good percentage of its inhabitants tend to be self-proclaimed rappers and musicians, with the remaining being models and ballers.
For this reason, the majority try to make themselves appear more successful than they really are, in an attempt to live like their established counterparts.
2. Kanyon
Bordering the posh Section 58 estate to the north, the ghetto is another place where people pretending to have made it in life hide.
The main plan is to be seen as heading to Section 58 and make one think they come from the leafy suburb.
This is usually backed up by cars borrowed from friends and family and expensive clothes bought after months of saving.
3. White House
Just like Shabaab, White House also houses many music and video studios, making it a haven for musicians, rappers and wanabees.
To make what they do rhyme with how they live and to come out as successful in their entertainment careers, they are forced to fake it until it becomes a reality.
