A security guard attached to Thika Township Member of Parliament Patrick Wainaina has died.
David Njuguna Njiraini has been the MP's private bodyguard since his election on August 8, 2017.
Wainaina, popularly known as 'Jungle', eulogised Njuguna as a dedicated person who was also his close friend.
In a post on his official Facebook page on Thursday, the legislator sent his message of condolence and encouragement to his bodyguard's family and friends and recalled the great life moments they had shared.
"Life is short but great life moments are made when spent with real friends by your side. It is with deep grief that I send my condolences to friends and family of David Njuguna, a foot soldier and dedicated person that served in my security team. Fare thee well my friend," Wainaina posted.
The first-time MP, however, didn't disclose what caused the death of his security officer.
The post encouraged hundred of his followers to send their condolences to the family of the officer many eulogised as a "great man".
"Rest in peace my brother you have gone soo soon. My college mate," posted Jacob Muli.
"My sincere condolences to the family of Njuguna... May he rest in eternal peace. Shine on your way," wrote Percy Njeri Waweru.
On his part, Daniel Ndegwa said: "My condolences to the family. I have lost a great friend. Shine on your way brother. RIP."
In 2018, more than three Members of Parliament lost their bodyguards in different scenarios.
Migori Woman Representative Pamela Odhiambo and his Lugari counterpart Ayub Savula lost their guards through different road crashes.
In November last year, Likuyani MP Dr Enoch Kibunguchy bodyguard was shot dead by armed thugs in Kakamega County.
Wainaina's predecessor Alice Ng'ang'a bodyguard died in a grisly road accident along Thika Road in October 2016.
