Raila Odinga Junior has called on police to make more arrests after picking up two Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officials for allegedly sneaking out crucial documents from electoral body's offices.
IEBC chief executive Ezra Chiloba personal assistance Abednego Ominde and acting finance director Agatha Wahome were arrested on Thursday afternoon with 14 files from the IEBC head offices at Anniversary Towers in Nairobi.
In a tweet on Friday, Odinga, who is opposition leader Raila Odinga's son, read ill motive in the action by the two officials and asked the government to also arrest the person who had instructed them.
"Even as police arrest Chiloba's PA Abednego Ominde + acting IEBC Finance director Agatha Wahome for attempting to sneak out 14 procurement files, the police should similarly arrest their sender. I'm sure they know who it is. #IEBC never-ending woes," Odinga posted.
Chiloba, however, distanced the duo from any wrongdoing saying he had personally requested for the files in preparation of his return to duty today (Friday).
"I am made to understand that the officer was going to run copies of the relevant documents in preparation for my return to work on September 14, 2018. This is not unusual and therefore the officers should not be victimized for doing what they are supposed to do in good faith," said Chiloba in a statement.
IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati confirmed the arrests adding that Nairobi area DCIO was handling the matter.
