Deputy President William Ruto has set aside Wednesday as the day for prayers and fasting among his staff members, details surrounding his 2022 State House quest have revealed.
The staff at Karen and Harambee House Annex have since adopted to the new system in Dr Ruto's office and all of them are said to be compliant.
One of his press secretary Emmanuel Talam says the new order was necessary since Dr Ruto comes from a religious family, thus the strict standards.
Mr Emmanuel Talam said the staff has had to adjust to the new way of doing things.
“It is a personal-family Christian ritual. As staff we respect it. It also strengthens those of us who join in the fast,” he said.
Majority Whip in the National Assembly Ben Washiali, a staunch Ruto ally, says they plan to visit every church in the country before the 2022 General Election.
“We will continue visiting to pray with them for the task ahead of us is not easy except if God goes with us. We have built many churches and mosques in the process,” the lawmaker from Mumias East said Saturday.
Being a staunch Christian, Dr Ruto is often in the churches every weekends and often leads several fundraisers across the country showing how he has shifted his politics to religion.
His wife Rachael Ruto, is also a renowned Christian and often holds prayer conferences at their Karen home. She has invested in women and the youth who are active in church.
