Former Vice President and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka is in 'hot soup' again after Ukambani deputy governors threw their weight behind their bosses' unity.
Speaking during a press conference in Machakos town on Monday, deputy governors Francis Maliti (Machakos) Adelina Mwau (Makueni) and Nzau Mawathe (Kitui) reaffirmed the Ukambani governors' resolutions on South Eastern Kenya Economic Bloc (SEKEB).
Maliti who read the statement on behalf of his colleagues said governors Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni), Alfred Mutua (Machakos) and Charity Ngilu (Kitui) are on the right move as far as Ukambani politics is concerned.
"We laud our three governors Hon. Alfred Mutua, Hon. Kivutha Kibwana and Hon Charity Ngilu for choosing a direction away from the status quo geared by the urge to provide services to Mwanchi. It's good to note that you can not do things the same way and expect different results," Maliti said.
They said the governors have remarkably performed in different areas of development.
"We urge our governors to soldier on and with our support Ukambani will never be a bedrock of shame, poverty and disunity," Maliti added.
Mwau asked the MCAs to avoid being used by selfish and greedy leaders to delay the counties operations.
"MCA's should understand that their job is to oversight and not to implement. They must stop being used by political forces to gang against governors," she said.
The deputy governors' move comes a few weeks after the three Ukambani governors unveiled a unity pact to make SEKEB a success.
Kibwana has also announced his move to ditch Wiper party.
The deputy governors' support makes it difficult for Kalonzo to woe votes in Ukambani region.
Wiper supporters have, however, rubished the unity claiming that it's a strategy to derail Kalonzo's 2022 presidential bid.
