Lawyer Miguna Miguna has responded to allegations that Raila Odinga sent ODM chairman John Mbadi and Siaya Senator James Orengo to President Uhuru Kenyatta to ask him for endorsement.
In a tweet on Tuesday, Miguna said that the ODM party has decided to take a u-turn after the revelations. He termed Raila a political broker who doesn’t respect the rights of Kenyans.
“The People's Con-Man @RailaOdinga has no respect for Kenyans. He asked John Mbadi and @orengo_james to crawl before Despot Uhuru Kenyatta and beg him to impose Raila as Uhuru's successor only to curl their stinking tails and deny it after being exposed,” he tweeted on Tuesday.
In a statement released to media houses, ODM dismissed the claim that it had sent two leaders to ask Uhuru, who is completing his second and final term in power, to endorse him. The political outfit said that the rumours are being spread by his critics with the aim of bringing him down.
"It is appalling to see the media report that Senate Minority Leader James Orengo and his National Assembly counterpart John Mbadi pleaded with the President to name Mr Odinga as his successor in the 2022 election,” said ODM, as quoted by Daily Nation.
