Political analyst Ambrose Weda now says that the ongoing famine in some counties in the nation points at failure on the side of the Jubilee government.
Speaking on Tuesday, Weda said that the situation is a blow to President Uhuru Kenyatta and demonstrates his inability to sustain and protect the electorate from hunger-related deaths.
He added that the current situation contradicts Uhuru's campaign vow to make Kenya a food secure nation, and is also a mockery to the food security arm of the Big 4 Agenda.
In an interview on KBC English Service's The Big Conversation on Wednesday morning, the analyst said that Uhuru must accept that he has failed and even repent for lying to Kenyans.
"The President and his leadership have failed Kenyans. He must accept his mistake and even repent for lying to Kenyans and later letting them down," he said.
Weda who doubles up as an advocate of the High Court noted that the same goes to Deputy President William Ruto who he said has been more busy politicking than addressing the issue.
"Uhuru lied to Kenyans, let him face the priest at his church and confess. But at the same time we are not seeing any action from his Deputy who is also doing close to nothing," he added.
This comes at a time when 13 of the 47 counties in the country are facing starvation as a result of biting drought.
