Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka reportedly lost his father Peter Musyoka on Sunday, it has been confirmed.
Details about Mzee Peter Musyoka however remain scanty. There are no public records indicating that he has been sick.
NASA co-principals Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula are among the high profile politicians who have condoled with the family.
"My brother and colleague Hon Kalonzo Musyoka, my sincere condolences upon the passing on of your dear father Mzee Peter Musyoka Mairu. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire family as you walk this difficult path,” Musalia twitted.
Bungoma Senaor Moses wetangula has eulogised Mairu for his iconic advise and relentless efforts on his quest to have a just society.
"His bravery, steadfastness, and personal sacrifice to see this country attain greater heights will forever be etched onto the minds of Kenyans who cherish democracy and cohesion,"wetangula said.
For the better part of Friday, Musyoka spent his day in Kisii during the homecoming ceremony of businessman Don Bosco Gichana both at Marani and Gusii stadium.
He insisted that he will be on ballot in the much anticipated 2022 polls in which Raila Odinga is also expected to feature.
For the better part of 2017, Musyoka was in a Germany Hospital where his wife Pauline Musyoka was hospitalised. Details about his father's death remain scanty.
