South Mugirango Member of Parliament Sylvanus Osoro has joined debate on the levy deductions,a program aimed at deducting citizens salaries towards the construction of affordable houses.

He said the program is good but the government should not rush to implement since Kenyans have not agreed for their salaries to be deducted to fund it.

"Yes, Kenyans deserve decent houses more so those living in slums but deducting salaries is not a good idea since Kenyans are being  forced to fund the project," he said. 

Osoro appealed to the government to consider going for corrupt people and recover all the money which has been stolen before starting to deduct people's salaries. 

The legislator warned that the people of Kenya may accept to contribute money towards the affordable housing program but, some individuals will end up pocketing the money. 

"It will be a waste of time for the government to collect millions of money from Kenyans only for the money to end up into people's pockets. Let first corruption be fought to end before such ideas of collecting money is brought," said Osoro.
