Kisii Governor James Ongwae has maintained that the construction of a soapstone centre in Tabaka Ward, South Mugirango Constituency is unstoppable.
Speaking on Tuesday after he toured soapstone quarries in Tabaka, the county boss appealed to local leaders and residents to support the setting up of the soapstone centre in the region.
"Local leaders and residents need to fully support the construction of a soapstone value addition centre at Tabaka. The national government through the Mining and Petroleum Ministry has offered to help ensure the project sails through for our jobless youths to get jobs and improve their lives," he stated.
The governor assured the workers that he will push for the construction of the soapstone centre, noting that it will help generate revenue for the county.
"My administration will not relent on the construction of the soapstone centre since more revenue will be generated," said Ongwae.
The ODM-allied governor appealed to the area MP Sylvanus Osoro and MCAs in the constituency to unite and join him in pushing for the project.
Ongwae added that his dream is to leave behind a good legacy once he completes his second and final term in office come 2022.
