Politicians in Nyamira have been asked to stop engaging in divisive politics.
According to Nyamira County Commissioner Isaiah Nakoru, there will be no development in the county if hatred, clan and divisive politics continue.
"I am appealing to local politicians to embrace unity across the county because divisive politics will hinder development. Elected leaders need to have peaceful moments to serve the people of Nyamira without discrimination," he said on Wednesday at Rigoma.
Nakoru warned that police will apprehend and prosecute politicians inciting people.
He said members of the public must shun politicians with an aim of subdividing them along political lines.
"Members of the public found protesting illegally will face the law. Leaders inciting the public must find something good to do which shall keep them busy before 2022," insisted the County Commissioner.
Nakoru also urged police officers to intensify security patrols in their respective deployed areas to ensure locals are safe before, during and after the Christmas celebrations.
"Our people must celebrate Christmas in a peaceful environment. Youths with an intention to cause mayhem will face the law," he stated.
